Where are my notes stored?
Nous keeps your notes on your Mac as Markdown files. In a typical installation they live under ~/Library/Application Support/Nous/. The Mac App Store edition uses the app’s sandbox container instead, but your notes remain local files on your device.
GitHub credentials and sync state are stored separately under NousCredentials/. If your build includes the MCP connector, AI authorizations and change history are stored under NousAI/.
How does GitHub sync work?
Sync is optional. When you turn it on, Nous reads and writes the repository and branch you choose using credentials you provide. Nothing is sent to a Nous-operated sync server. Repository visibility and retention are controlled by GitHub and your settings.
How do I report a bug?
Email wldouglas2012@gmail.com with a short description of what happened, your macOS version, and whether you use the Mac App Store build or another build. Screenshots or steps to reproduce help. Avoid attaching sensitive note content unless it is necessary to show the problem.
